Speaker’s Profile

Dr. Otsuga is currently the Vice President of Colorado State University Ventures, Inc., an independent non-profit corporation dedicated to serving the Colorado State University to manage its intellectual properties.  He has been involved in technology commercialization process from both academic institutions and a biotechnology company positions for more than a dozen years.

ABSTRACT:

Most academic institutions, including many of the most prestigious institutions established in the late 19th and early 20th century, have a common mission: education, research, service, and extension.  The mission comprises both of discovery and dissemination of knowledge.  As a newly established institution in 21st century, what are the modes of knowledge transfer that OIST could be engaged in order to optimize its impact in society?   This seminar provides an overview of a new mode of knowledge transfer, technology commercialization.
