Title: From dislocation dynamics to Hamilton-Jacobi equations: homogenization and the Orowan mechanism
Speaker: Dr. Panrui Ni (Waseda University)
Abstract: This talk is concerned with Hamilton-Jacobi equations arising from models of dislocation dynamics. We first study a homogenization problem and establish the optimal O(ε) convergence rate via an implicit variational principle. We then investigate the Orowan mechanism and its mathematical formulation in terms of Hamilton-Jacobi equations with Neumann boundary conditions of contact-angle type.
