OIST Computational Neuroscience Course (OCNC 2027)

Date

Monday, July 5, 2027 (All day) to Thursday, July 22, 2027 (All day)

Location

Seaside House

Description

Warning: OCNC 2027 depends on availability of the Seaside House that is currently undergoing renovations. If these renovations run over time we may have to cancel OCNC 2027.

The OIST Computational Neuroscience Course has been around since 2004 and was organized every year since (skipping for COVID and for Seaside House closure this year).

It provides opportunities for young researchers with theoretical backgrounds to learn up-to-date neurobiological findings, and those with experiment backgrounds to have hands-on experience in computational modeling. It distinguishes itself from similar international courses by requiring the students to formulate a modeling project to work on during the course. OCNC is a unique networking opportunity for these young researchers, many of whom have become leaders of the field afterwards.

The invited faculty are a mixture of leading and upcoming young researchers in their fields. Selection of students is highly competitive and based primarily on merit. The course provides positive exposure of OIST to potential postdoctoral fellows and future PIs. It makes an important contribution to promoting OIST by increasing its visibility through student, tutor and faculty participation. In fact, past OCNC students have organized reunion meetings at international scientific conferences.

OIST members are welcome to attend all scientific sessions.
