Todd E. Garabedian is a partner at the law firm of Cantor Colburn LLP in Hartford, Connecticut. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned a B.S. in biochemistry from UCLA; an M.S. in biochemistry and a Ph.D. in biochemistry, both from Washington State University; and a J.D. from New England School of Law. Dr. Garabedian has extensive experience as an intellectual property attorney in a wide variety of disciplines related to the biological sciences, including chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, pharmaceuticals, molecular biology, and materials science. His experience also extends to trademark and copyright issues.
Dr. Garabedian will discuss his career in patent law, as well as recent changes in patent law and focus on the importance of legal protection for novel intellectual assets that could have commercial implications. He will discuss what an invention is, how ideas become inventions, when inventions become commercial opportunities, and how patents protect an invention's value. He will also discuss developing commercial opportunities with technology transfers.
