The 7th ABis Advanced Light Microscopy Course at OIST will run from January 23 - January 24, 2023.

There's a limit to how much you can grow your hair out in a week, but we're going to ask you to try.

Learn the skills neccessary to enter the water safely, through ocean risk assessment and management.

Come learn how to communicate your impactful ideas visually and engage audiences with poster presentations, an important skill set not only for scientists, but for all presenters! Poster presentations are an interactive, effective format for showcasing research or sharing ideas, programs, and projects.

We will take a closer look at the autonomic nervous system and the way our biology helps us navigate daily life, how we respond to cues of safety and danger below the level of conscious thought, and how this guides the way we move through the world, from turning toward and backing away, to connecting and other times isolating.

Okinawa Christian School International (OCSI) will hold their Open House for prospective families on November 23rd, 2022. Events like this tend to fill up quickly, so if it is a school you are interested in for your children, I recommend you register early.

The OIST Innovators Society is hosting a fireside chat on accelerating biomedical science innovation, featuring Dr. Tanja Rosenmund, Visiting Researcher at OIST and Director of SPARK Berlin Institute of Health . The event will be followed by an open house with staff of the Technology Development & Innovation Center and free coffee and snacks!

OIST Orators meet every two weeks to practice public speaking. No matter your level or experience, everyone is welcome to come and learn together! Our meetings typically consist of prepared talks, impromptu topics to practice speaking on the spot, and a short seminar on some aspect of oratory.

If so, then join the Ganjuu Team on Tuesday 4 ^th October 2022 from 11am-1pm to complete the Tell Step Up for Mental Health Challenge organized by Tell Lifeline. For World Suicide Prevention Day and Mental Health Awareness Day we hope you will join us in walking 21,007 steps in honor of the 21,007 lives lost to suicide last year in Japan.

You can organize and register a team of up to 4 people using the link below. Regardless of whether you register a team you can join us on Tuesday 4 ^th October to do the step up challenge. We plan to meet at 11am outside the entrance to Lab 4 and we can walk the challenge together around the grounds surrounding OIST.

In contrast to venture capitalists, angel investors are typically wealthy individuals who invest their own money in early-stage startups in exchange for ownership equity or convertible debt.

Ganjuu Wellbeing Service is moving!

Our new location will be the Former Presidents House near the faculty housing and Lab5. The move will take place on 28 ^th -29 ^th Sept. The service will be temporarily closed but will be open on Monday 3 ^rd October.

The Innovators Society is back with exciting talks and workshops for the rest of the year!

For the first talk this summer, please join us to listen to Dr. Benjamin Heidt , who is currently a postdoc in Micro/Bio/Nanofluidics at OIST, and Co-founder of a science education-based startup FLUIGO , based in Maastricht, Netherlands.

We will also have some light snacks during the meeting!

To mark R U Okay Day (Thursday 8 ^th September) and World Suicide Prevention Day (Saturday 11 ^th September) at OIST, Ganjuu Wellbeing Service will have a stall at lunchtime at center court where they will be sharing information, leaflets, giving away World Suicide Prevention Day wrists bands and raising money for the Okinawan Lifeline, a charity that provides out of hours telephone support for people in crisis.
