Description
This presentation will expose students to open-source and low-cost solutions to prototyping and hardware development as well as affordable paths in product development. In particular, we will cover advances and opportunities in microcontrollers and sensors, enabled by the Arduino ecosystem and Platform.io.
This session will be continued with the workshop (sign-ups required!) Introduction to microcontrollers and electronics using the Arduino platform on 26 June.
Emery Premeaux is the author of “Arduino projects to save the world” (Apress/Springer, 2011). The book details basic science and measurement projects with Arduino and other open source tools, such as the processing language. He is also co-founder and current chairman of Tokyo HackerSpace, a non-profit maker space in Nogizaka, Tokyo, where he teaches classes on electronics, Arduino, and PCB design with KiCad.
Professionally, Emery was a pioneer in Japan’s first commercial drone manufacturer, ACSL, where he was an applications engineer and systems integrator for 8 years. He has co-authored multiple papers concerning test and measurement methodologies of drones in large scale wind-tunnels.
Recently he has been working alongside Dominik Steiner, as chief hardware designer for business to business IoT solutions at VPC-Asia.
