Are you curious about how to develop your technology into a business? Dr. Khaled will talk you through the principles of how you would create a plan to do that. His talk will be tailored to the needs of researchers taking their first steps in this area.

This session is for students, researchers, technicians or staff that have an interest in learning more about how to get started in building a business.

Bio:

Maher has been commercialising medical diagnostics and pharmaceuticals for over 15 years. He is currently the Director, Business Development for ResApp Health, a spin-out from the University of Queensland that has launched a range of smartphone-based respiratory tests based on cough-sounds. He has previously been a non-executive director for two medical device spin-outs form the University of Cambridge, having made the first institutional investment from Cambridge Enterprise Seed Funds. He was also an associate at McKinsey & Co.’s London office where he advised pharma, medical device companies and the NHS on strategic and operational change. More recently he managed four early stage drug development programs for a North American biotech.

Maher is an admitted solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and has a Doctor of Biotechnology as well as Bachelors of Laws and Biomedical Science, all from the University of Queensland.
