Beyond the Lab: Real-World Paths for Your Research
Date: Thursday, July 17, 2025
Time: 13:00–14:30
Location: Main Campus, C209
Guest Speaker: Prof. Megumi Takata, Director General of Kyushu University's Entrepreneurship Center
13:00–14:00 | Turning Ideas into Impact
Ever wondered how research ideas move beyond the lab and into the world? Join Prof. Megumi Takata, a national leader in tech transfer and academic entrepreneurship, as he demystifies the process of research commercialization. Through compelling stories and practical insights, you’ll gain a clearer understanding of how partnerships, licensing, and spinouts come to life—and where researchers fit into that journey.
14:00–14:30 | Coffee Chat: Ask the Experts
Building on Prof. Takata’s talk, the conversation continues with members of OIST Innovation’s Technology Licensing Team, who will share how these ideas play out right here at OIST. You’ll hear how our flexible, researcher-centered approach supports new pathways for discovery—from licensing successes to collaborative invention stories.
We’ll also introduce key members of the Innovation team and spotlight a few OIST inventors, so you know who to talk to—and how to connect.
Stick around to enjoy coffee, snacks, and an open networking session designed to keep the conversation flowing.
