Hawaiian Culture Club

ON HOLD DUE TO COVID -19. The club will open back up once we can safely gather.

Okinawa and Hawaii share many connections through diaspora migrations and being critical components of the Pacific community. We also have many similarities in island environments and ways of life. We also have much to learn from each other about how institutions of higher learning can contribute to local communities.

The Hawaiian Culture Club aims to engage the OIST community in practices and understanding of living in island communities. Our goal is to conduct educational activities in collaboration with parties outside OIST as well as inside OIST. We would like to bring unique and enriching experiences to all to bring us closer to honoring our host culture of Okinawa.
