Workshop Abstract
In 2023, OIST and Kyushu University signed an MOU to enhance collaboration, leveraging the strengths of both universities. The first Joint Symposium, themed “Bio-inspired Energy,” was successfully held at OIST, deepening exchanges among researchers.
The second symposium, focusing on Quantum Technology and AI, will be hosted by Kyushu University, where researchers from both institutions will share their research outcomes. The event will foster interdisciplinary teams that are both dynamic and high-impact, paving the way for pioneering, high-impact research. Furthermore, we aim to establish a foundation for future projects that will drive innovation and lead to external funding opportunities. We welcome proactive participation from faculty, graduate students, postdocs, and researchers from diverse fields, aiming to form flexible and global team structures.

1 |
Dr. Hiroki Takahashi Associate Professor, OIST |
Experimental Quantum Information Physics Unit Hiroki worked on quantum optics involving squeezed light, Schrödinger’s kittens and tons of optical mirrors for his master and Ph.D.. After that he decided to try his luck in the United Kingdom where he also started new research about ion trapping and cavity QED. At the University of Tokyo he experienced research using superconducting Josephson circuits. Upon joining OIST, he switched his research subject back to the more experienced ion trapping with good memory of transmon qubits in his mind. |

Dr. Danilo Vasconcellos Vargas Associate Professor, Kyushu University |
Faculty of Information Science and Electrical Engineering Danilo Vasconcellos Vargas is an Associate Professor at Kyushu University, Visiting Researcher at the University of Tokyo and CEO & Founder of MiraiX. His research interests span Artificial Intelligence (AI), evolutionary computation, complex adaptive systems, interdisciplinary studies involving or using an AI’s perspective and AI applications. Currently, he leads the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems aimed at building a new age of robust and adaptive artificial intelligence. |
