Last trip to Ishigaki for the Okinawa Fire Ant Countermeasure Project (March 2020)

The Invasive Ant Countermeasure Project that was entrusted by the Okinawa Prefectural Government is nearing the end. Although there are still some loose ends to tie up, the official meeting scheduled to be held at the end of the project has been canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. Instead of carrying out an official meeting, we visited the Ministry of the Environment Ishigaki Nature Conservation Office to share information about RIFA countermeasure in Ishigaki and in the afternoon, we visited Yaeyama Nature Agency, who have continuously maintained and patrolled around the SLAM traps placed at the Ishigaki Port, to share the results of our ant surveys. Even though this project is almost finished, we would like to continue to cherish our relationship with those who are working closely with the local community.
