Series Introduction:

Whether we like it or not, we have a web presence. The way you represent your professional self online conveys important information and images to the circles of contacts and potential contacts who are interested in your work. Even when we are absent from social media sites, in the professional realm our absence is often noticed. This is true when networking generally but becomes especially significant when engaged in the process of looking for a job. When a prospective contact attempts to locate you online, having a less than optimal web presence could mean missed opportunities. But even outside of networking and job hunting, creating a robust web presence has many benefits for scientific researchers, including stimulating creativity and reflection. Dedicating attention to the ways in which online platforms and processes can be used to create and enhance your professional visibility is a valuable step on your career path, whether in the academic world or beyond.

After Module 4 above, the series will include the following two additional workshops:

Module 5: Writing for alternative mediums

Module 6: Creating a professional website

If you plan to attend at least one of the workshops above, please do register.

Registration will include access to the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) site for the series, which will provide access to links of carefully curated resources & pre-workshop assignment prompts.

If you do plan to register for this series, please respond by the end of Tuesday, November 26.

You will be asked to prepare a short reflective assignment for this workshop. More information will be provided upon registration.
