OIST, in collaboration with UC Santa Barbara, is hosting a groundbreaking symposium entitled "Materials of Tomorrow: Harnessing Responsiveness, Intelligence, and Sustainability." This event will bring together leading researchers to explore cutting-edge advancements in material science. The symposium is structured into four Sessions, each delving into crucial topics such as unconventional electronic states, stable charge-separated states in organic semiconductors, energy technologies with polymers, and sustainable and responsive materials design. The discussions will underscore the importance of interdisciplinary approaches and the urgent need for sustainable solutions in materials science.

The OIST-Kyudai Symposium brings together minds from OIST and Kyushu University to delve into the realms of bio-inspired wonders and energy innovations.

This symposium is on quantum information science, which is a new interdisciplinary area of information science and quantum mechanics

The deadline is approaching to submit a proposal for a concurrent session or poster at C-Hub's Symposium 2024: Inclusive Communication, to be held March 7-8, 2024.

The deadline is next Friday, December 8.

C-Hub’s Annual Symposium brings together bold ideas and innovative thinkers to explore themes that enhance our ability to engender excellence through inclusion. Each year, we focus on a specific topic (2021: Inclusive Mentoring; 2022: Inclusive Leadership) to invite the broader community to share their work, insights, and practices.

The symposium will include lectures and poster presentations that will provide an overview of the current status and challenges of research on the marine environment and marine ecosystems, promote the exchange of the latest knowledge among disciplines, and present cross–disciplinary perspectives. There will also be a panel discussion to discuss how the issues raised at the symposium should be addressed. In addition, a working group of young researchers and graduate students will be formed at the end of the symposium to formulate recommendations for the future of cross–disciplinary research in the coming months.

This event underscores the pivotal role of knowledge and collaboration in forging a sustainable future brought to life through the strategic partnership between OIST and Keio University.

OIST and Keio University have successfully blended top-down and bottom-up approaches, charting new research paths and nurturing young scholars since 2019. In this first inaugural joint symposium, the strengths of existing hubs such as WPI and COI-NEXT are maximized, fostering a complementary relationship that facilitates collective exploration of the world’s challenges.

The first joint symposium between RIKEN Center for Brain Science (CBS) and OIST is organized by Ph.D. students and professors in both institutes. The symposium aims to provide a platform for young scientists from both institutes to develop stronger ties and find solutions to shared research interests using different approaches/model organisms. The deadline for registration is 15th June 2023.
