“Hoshizuna: the floating star-sand” art installation

From Saturday, March 25, through Saturday, April 1, OIST will house giant balloons in the shape of Hoshizuna, or Okinawa star sand.

EF Polymer, an agritech startup has been working with local farmers in Okinawa to perform pilot tests of their technology. Their team wish to create an enjoyable event to help the farmers harvest the carrots, and also give back to the community. The OIST POWER Club is calling for volunteers to join this event to harvest carrots.

OIST x OYW Spring Camp 2023: 環境問題に関する課題解決に取り組む５日間

OIST x OYW Spring Camp 2023: a five-day camp for high school students in Japan to address solutions to environmental issue.

Between Nov 28th (Mon) and Dec 9th (Fri) the Resource Center will accept food donations. These will later be sent to the local non-profit organization “Second Harvest Okinawa,” which will distribute them to families in need.

OIST Beach Clean Club hosts a beach clean-up on October 23rd, 2022.
