OIST NetCafé Online Information Session in August 2026 (Japanese)

This session will be conducted in Japanese. The program will start off with OIST general introduction and PhD & Research Internship admission process. During the session, two OIST PhD students will share their PhD experiences and present their research projects.

Speakers

Mitsuyuki Oshiro (PhD student at the Coordination Chemistry and Catalysis Unit)

Mitsuyuki was born and raised in Okinawa. He received B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Okayama University of Science, where he works on development of charge separation system using zinc complexes. In 2022, he joined the Coordination Chemistry and Catalysis Unit (PI: Prof. Julia Khusnutdinova) at OIST as intern student. During his internship, he became interested in the dynamics of metal complexes in polymer matrices. He is currently working on the development of mechanoresponsive polymers using zinc complexes. His hobbies are cooking, visiting cafés, and 3D modeling.  

Tomohiko Taniguchi (PhD student at the Neural Circuit Unit)

Tomohiko was born and raised in Fukuoka, Japan. He earned his M.D. from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto University before joining OIST in 2024 to pursue interdisciplinary research in a unique international environment. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Neural Circuit Unit (PI: Prof. Yutaka Yoshida), where he investigates how somatosensory circuits contribute to the fine control of movement using optogenetics and two-photon microscopy. Outside the lab, he enjoys spending time with his family and raising his son in Okinawa.
