November in the SAP Room 　11月のSAPルーム

Thank you, Kevin sensei　ケビン先生ありがとう！

The School Age Program said goodbye to Kevin Stein this month. Kevin became director of the SAP in 2018, oversaw the move to Seaside House, implemented and maintained OIST's COVID-19 policies in the SAP room, and turned the room into the vibrant, active, welcoming place it is now. We will miss his bright smile and warm heart.

スクールエイジプログラムは今月ケビン・スタイン先生に別れを告げました。ケビン先生は2018年にSAPのディレクターになり、シーサイドハウスへの移転を監督し、SAPルームでOISTのCOVID-19ポリシーの実施と継続を行い、SAPルームを活気に満ちた、アクティブで居心地の良い場所にしてくれました。ケビン先生の明るい笑顔と温かい心が恋しくなります。

Kevin's message to SAP families　

Dear SAP Families,

 

I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all of the kind words and support you provided me with as I was preparing to move on to Hokkaido and rejoin my family.

It was an honor and pleasure to get to know you and your children. Watching children from all over, with various linguistic and cultural traditions, coming together to build friendships, explore their world, and play, play, play was a daily reminder that the world is filled with a kind of miraculous decency and kindness that is easy to lose sight of.

I have learned so much over the past year and a half from the SAP children. I have been so lucky to talk with many of you about raising and supporting our children (I am also a SAP family member). I know that the SAP will continue to develop and provide amazing services for your families. I was lucky to be a small part of the SAP development. My memories of the children playing their own original versions of tag, the look on their faces when we hung the art they made up on the wall, the wild dances they did when I strummed my guitar, these are the treasures I will carry with me to Hokkaido and beyond.

Thank you for your trust and support. And don’t be surprised when you see me back in the SAP room for a visit. I might be starting something new, but moving forward doesn’t mean leaving everything behind.

ケビン先生からのメッセージ

SAPファミリーの皆様へ

北海道へ引っ越し家族と再会する準備をしている際に、親切な言葉やサポートをいただきありがとうございました。

保護者の方と皆さんの子ども達と知り合うことができたことは光栄であり、喜びでした。さまざまな言語的および文化的伝統を持つ世界中の子ども達が一緒になって友情を築き、彼らの世界を探索し、たくさん遊ぶのを見て、世界が、私達が見失いがちな一種の奇跡的な寛大さと優しさに満ちていることを毎日思い出させてくれました。

私は過去1年半にわたってSAPの子ども達から多くのことを学びました。また、子ども達を育てサポートすることについて多くの皆さんと話すことができてとても幸運でした（私もSAPファミリーのメンバーです）。SAPはあなたの家族のために素晴らしいサービスを開発し提供し続けると思います。私はSAPの発展のほんの一部になることができて幸せでした。子ども達がオリジナルの鬼ごっこで遊んだ思い出、子ども達が作った作品を壁に飾った時の彼らの表情、私がギターをかき鳴らした時の子ども達のワイルドなダンス・・これらは私が北海道とその先へ持っていく宝物です。

みなさんの信頼とご支援に感謝しています。そして、私がSAPルームを再訪問しても驚かないでくださいね。私は何か新しいことを始めているかもしれませんが、前進することはすべてを置き去りにするというわけではありませんせん。

Clubs and Events in November

Yoga - SAP welcomed Loretta White back for more yoga with the kids. The children seemed very enthusiastic as soon as Loretta arrived to begin yoga class. Some children hovered around before she started and eventually joined in. This time the children seemed more familiar with the poses, movements and the structure of the yoga class. They did a lot of balancing and strength exercises in the session. The children seemed tired towards the end and enjoyed the relaxing meditation to finish. Thank you Loretta and please come back soon!

11月のクラブとイベント

ヨガーロレッタ・ホワイトさんが子ども達ともっとヨガをするためSAPに戻ってきてくれました。ロレッタさんヨガのクラスのために現れるとすぐに、子ども達は大きな意欲を見せました。クラスが始まる前に何人かの子ども達は迷っていましたが、最終的に参加しました。今回、子ども達はヨガのポーズや動き、クラスの構造に慣れているようでした。クラスでは、バランスやストレッチのエクササイズをたくさんしました。終わりのほうでは疲れたようで、最後にはリラックスした瞑想を楽しみました。ロレッタさんありがとう、そしてまた戻ってきてください！

Handball - a message from Souichi

The children in Handball club seem to be enjoying the club activity.  The leader of the club, Souichi,  says he wants to add practice training in the future.

ハンドボールクラブのソウイチ君からのメッセージ

ハンドボールクラブの子ども達はクラブ活動を楽しんでいるようです。クラブ代表のソウイチ君は、今後は練習トレーニングも加えたいと言っています。

Drawing Club

This month, we did tracing, copying, and free drawing of pictures of children's favorite characters. There were some children who drew on their own in silence, and some children who said it was difficult and wanted to redrow many times.

11月のお絵描きクラブでは、子ども達の好きなキャラクターの絵のトレーシングや模写、自由お絵描きをしました。もくもくと集中してお絵描きをする子、難しいといいながら何度も描き直す子もいました。

Science Friday - Kids were very excited to have Science Fridays come to the SAP.  Uma sensei showed them how oil bonds with soap and appears to chase away food coloring dropped into milk. The kids enjoyed learning the science behind this colorful and joyfully messy experiment. Thank you Uma for your hard work to teach kids practical science.

サイエンスフライデイ： 子ども達はサイエンスフライデーがSAPに来てとても喜んでいました。ウマ先生は、油が洗剤とどのように結合し牛乳に落とした着色料を追い払うように見えるかを見せました。子ども達は、このカラフルで悦ばしいほどメチャクチャな実験の背後にある科学を学ぶことを楽しみました。子ども達に実践的な科学を熱心に教えてくれたウマ先生に感謝します。

Science Jam

SAP welcomed Tom Bourguinon, Daniel Spector and Yasha Neiman to the room this month to talk to kids about their research. Children got hands on lessons about molecules from Daniel and Yasha, and Tom brought some termites with him and showed kids different species. These up close science experiences were a real hit!

サイエンスジャム

SAPは今月、トム・ブルギニョンさん、ダニエル・スペクターさん、ネイマン・ヤーシャさんを迎え、子ども達に彼らの研究について話しました。子ども達はダニエルさんとヤーシャさんから分子についてのレッスンを受けました。トムさんはシロアリを持ってきて、子ども達に様々な種類を見せてくれました。これらの密接な科学体験は大ヒットでした！

December and January Holiday Program days

The December and January holiday program webform is available for families who will to partake in holiday program services during their children's school holidays. Remember to sign up before the 20th of the preceding month if you want to order lunch and snack on holiday program days.

12月と1月のホリデープログラムのウェブフォームは、お子さんの学校の休暇中にホリデープログラムサービスに参加するご家族が利用できます。ホリデープログラムの日にランチとおやつを注文する場合は、前月の20日までに登録してください。

COVID-19 Measures Continue

SAP COVID-19 protection measures remain in place. The room is disinfected multiple times a day, and children are reminded regularly to wash their hands and wear their masks properly. All SAP staff are receiving bi-weekly OIST PCR tests. We continue to ask parents and guardians to wear masks inside the SAP room at all times. Anyone without a mask must remain outside. We appreciate your cooperation.

COVID-19対策

SAPのCOVID-19保護対策は引き続き実施されています。ルームの一日に複数回の消毒、子ども達の定期的な手洗いやマスクの適切な着用を促しています。すべてのSAPスタッフは、隔週でOISTのPCRテストを受けています。保護者の方は、SAPルーム内で常にマスクを着用するようお願いします。マスクを着用していない方は外で待機する必要があります。みなさんのご協力をお願いします。

For more photos of SAP kids doing activities in the room and in the outdoor play areas, please check out the November photo album. Be sure to save photos of your child that you want to keep because we delete older albums regularly to free space for new photos and videos.
