Laboratory Accident Drill (March 28) 実験室事故訓練実施について（3月28日）

Dear All,

In conjunction with the fire drill on Campus, a laboratory accident drill is planned for the first time at OIST. In the laboratory accident drill, we practice how to correspond to a laboratory accident and treat an injured person, assuming a chemical accident occurred during an experiment. Although participation is voluntary, we would like to have as many people as possible to take part in. We would like to ask at least one person from each unit/section to participate.

Despite all the efforts and precautions that universities take to avoid accidents, more than 100 accidents per year have been reported since 2004 in Japan. This number counts only chemical accidents widely publicized. There were some laboratory accidents involving loss of life in the past.  Laboratory accidents are not other people’s affair. We should do prepare for an unexpected emergency.

The laboratory accident drill will take place in Lab1 B503. Please come to the venue after the fire drill. If there are many participants, we may conduct the drill twice.

各位

3月28日（金）に実施される防災訓練に合わせて、この度OISTで初となる研究室事故訓練を実施します。同訓練では、実際に化学薬品事故が起きたと想定し、事故の対処法や負傷者の取り扱いについて練習します。参加は任意ですが、できるだけ多くの方に参加していただきたく、各研究ユニット又はセクションから最低1名の参加をお願いします。

国内の大学では事故を避けるためのあらゆる努力が行われていますが、化学実験事故だけでも2004年以来毎年100件以上の事故が報告されています。また、過去には死亡事故も報告されています。実験室事故は他人事ではないことを認識し、万一の事故に備えることが非常に重要です。

実験室事故訓練は、防災訓練後に、研究棟１のB503セミナールームで行います。多くの方の参加をお待ちしています。参加者多数の場合は2回実施します。
