Ashtanga Yoga - Certified Instructor

Przemek Keppe - Sensei

Przemek-san is a long time practitioner and teacher of Ashtanga Yoga, devoted to the traditional teachings of this method. A dynamic practice of Asanas (positions), involving deep concentration and meditation, with emphasize on all the aspects of Yoga and how to apply them off the mat. With over 18 years of experience in and out of India, he would like to share his philosophy on his personal practice of Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation.

Daily Yoga practice from Monday to Friday, between 7:00am and 10:00am in the Village Center, honoring the moon days:

Minimum time of study is one month. Classes are based on a monthly tuition. In order for the experience to spring forward, It is advised to practice at least twice a week.

Time of the practice is flexible and can be adjusted to the personal schedule. In Mysore classes every student is being tailored with his own personal practice based on his history and predispositions. On Friday's, there is a joined led class with a traditional vinyasa count in Sanskrit. This class is an opportunity for the students to revise their practice done throughout the week.

Language is not a barrier for practicing Yoga. It is often being said that the best teachers were the ones who couldn't speak the same language. If necessary, additional guidance can be offered in English, German, Polish, Spanish and chotto Nihongo.

Yoga Therapy- Certified Instructor

Miya Taillefer - Sensei

Miya-san is certified by the Japan Yoga Therapists Association & the Indian Central Government-accredited by Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samshana (S-VYASA). She is a certified yoga instructor (YIC) and yoga/therapist (YTIC). Miya can focus on areas for maternity, handicapped children, people with diseases, as well as regular courses.

Her classes will be taught in Japanese and little English. The Language exchange is welcomed!

Iyengar Yoga - Certified Instructor

Yasuko Ruidel- Sensei

Yasuko Sensei is a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor Level 1 and 2. She was certified in Prune, India in 2020 and has completed the RYT-200 program in Ashtanga style in Doha, Qatar in 2014. She has been practicing Yoga since 1998.

Saturday Mornings:

Start Saturday with the refreshing yoga class early in the morning at by the beachside in Chura Hall - Seaside House!

Time and day: 8:00-9:00 am Saturdays, starting from September 25th

Location: Chura Hall at OIST Seaside House (3rd Floor)

Thursday Afternoons:

Time and day: 12:00-1:00pm Thursdays

Location: Village Center - Ocean View Room


Student 500 yen, Non-student 1000 yen (if new to Yasuko’s class, students 200 yen, non-students 500 yen)

Level and Language:

All level, the instruction in English/Japanese

Minimum required number of students: 3 

Qualification of Yasuko: Certified Iyenagar Yoga Level 1 teacher (the association has changed the description of the level this year, and she is at Level 1 now.)

Yasuko-Sensei is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and she will be teaching on Thursday afternoons in the Ocean View Room from 12:00pm-1:00pm. She is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher, level 1/2, in Pune, India. She completed the RYT-200 program in Ashtanga style in Doha, Qatar in 2014 and has been practicing yoga since 1998.

Due to Covid-19, the limit is 6 participants inside the Ocean View Room and up to 10 inside the Chura Hall location.

Flamenco Dance Class

Noriko Shimabukuro- Sensei


Noriko started dancing Flamenco for exercise, but soon progressed to value this art, especially after her experience performing with live music. With limited resources in Okinawa and her desire to learn more, she traveled to Seville, Spain to take lessons from top artists. Currently she helps run the curriculum of Escuela de Flamenco de Andalucia in Okinawa (lectures), and she performs in various events. Noriko says many Flamenco artists have told her that Okinawa is similar to Andalucia. She hopes to bring the passion and fun to OIST community as well.

Flamenco Dance (baile) is a highly-expressive, Spanish dance form. The flamenco is a solo dance characterized by hand clapping, percussive footwork, and intricate hand, arm, and body movements

Classes for 2020 schedule:

Starting Fridays from 7:00-8:15pm in the Village Center Meeting Room.

Please bring:

  • Comfortable clothes to dance
  • Flamenco skirt (or long wide skirt)*
  • Flamenco shoes (or heeled shoes, not too high)*
  • Water

*Don't worry if you don't have them, just come in and try it out!

Flamenco Video - Noriko-Sensei

Tai Chi Class

(Classes are currently on hold due to teacher availability and Covid-19. We will inform the community when classes open again. )

Shima Yoshiki -Sensei has over 20 years training and over 7 years teaching experience around Okinawa.

This class will focus on releasing stress and work out your body, mind and spirit while having fun with Tai chi!

No registration, just wear comfortable clothes and bring water.

Schedule: Wednesdays 6:30 - 8:00 and Fridays 20:30 - 22:00

Price: 500y/class, first class free trial.

Each class is composed by two main parts:

1. Warm up and Qi Gong excersises.

2. Tai chi (and sometimes Kung Fu) practice.
