Journal Subscriptions Costs and Procedures

The inexorable increase in the cost of online journal subscriptions is a major challenge for any university as publishers have large leeway to set these costs. In addition, the business models for online journals have become increasingly complex, and institutions don't have many good options to cope with them.

Dr. Davide Chiuchiu (Researcher Committee representative) and Mr. Saahil Acharya (Student Committee representative) have conducted a careful study of these business models and of our library's procedures to purchase online journal subscriptions.

This report is a summary of their learning, and we hope that you may find it useful.
