OSMP 2021 Information and Sign Up Form for Mentors

We are currently looking for students, interns, technicians, and postdoctoral scholars from OIST to act as mentors in the Okinawa Science Mentoring Program to raise curiosity about science in high school students from Okinawa.  This is an excellent chance to encourage science literacy at the grassroots level, connect with the community and inspire the next generation of scientists! 

As a mentor, you will…
…be paired up with a mentee from a local high school
…introduce your mentee to researchers at OIST
…expose your mentee to day-to-day life as a scientist
…design small experiments/activities for your mentee to perform
…help your mentee to identify areas of interests
…discuss future career perspectives with your mentee
…need to be available for 4 mentoring sessions on the   3^rd​, 6^th​, 10^th​, and 13^th​ of August, 2021 between 13:00 and 17:00
…receive inspiration for mentoring sessions in a pre-program training and information session

The more volunteer mentors we have, the more Okinawan high school students will be able to participate in the program. To sign up as a mentor, please fill in the webform below. Please keep in mind that you need to be available on 3^rd​, 6^th​, 10^th​, and 13^th​ of August, 2021 between 13:00 and 17:00 to sign up as a mentor. If your availability is limited, but you still wish to sign up as a mentor, please send an email to osmp@oist.jp.
