Timothy Ravasi is a Professor of Marine Sciences and the Principal Investigator of the Marine Climate Change Unit at OIST, an Adjunct Professor at the Australian Research Council Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, James Cook University, an Adjunct Professor at the University of California in San Diego and a Visiting Scientist at the RIKEN institute in Japan. After receiving his doctoral degree in biological sciences from the University of Milan in Italy, he started his postdoctoral training at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences at the University of Queensland in Australia. He then moved to University of California, San Diego to become the co-director of the Scripps Systems Biology core. In 2008 joined as an Associate Professor the faculty of the newly founded King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, where in 2014 he was promoted to Tenured Full Professor. At OIST Prof. Ravasi established a multi-disciplinary research program aiming to understand the effects of climate change on coral reef ecosystems in particular on fish communities. Tim loves the sea, diving, golf, hiking and soccer.
