Postdoc/Researcher - Ultrafast Optoelectronic Devices

Postion Description: The Femtosecond Spectroscopy Unit at OIST is recruiting postdoctoral researchers or scientists in the broad field of ‘ultrafast opto-electronic devices’. Recently, the unit demonstrated the possibility of manipulating photoexcited carriers on the ultrafast timescale beyond the diffraction limit of light [1]. The available position would explore the development of novel ultrafast opto-electronic devices based on this capability. The position is geared towards generating new intellectual property, as well as peer-reviewed scientific publications. Beyond the 3-yr duration of the project, successful researchers would have the option of applying for significant further funding geared towards taking the developed technologies towards products for the marketplace.

At the disposal of successful candidates would be the unit’s state-of-the-art experimental laboratories for ultrafast lasers and photoemission electron microscopy, and shared institute facilities for material characterization and fabrication.

Interaction opportunities exist with various international institutes. Professional guidance will be available from industrial, scientific and legal experts in developing intellectual property and next-generation technology for the market place.

Qualifications: Applicants are expected to have at least a Masters, preferably a PhD, in the broad areas of opto-electronic device physics or a related field. Experience in optics and device physics is essential. Experience in ultrafast or photoemission techniques will be an advantage.
