Travel & Accommodations

Flight

You are welcome to visit other cities or extend your stays in Okinawa. OIST will not assist or cover your extended stays outside of the course as well as your flight arrangement to and from Okinawa, Japan.

Airport Code for Naha Airport is OKA.

Accommodations

The selected participants are expected to stay at lodging facility that OIST provides. The shared/single guest rooms are provided in free of charge.

For participants who choose to stay at nearby hotels or other facilities, they will be responsible for arranging their own accommodations, room charges, ground transportation, and any associated cost.

Meals

Meals will be provided during the course.

Passports

If you are traveling from overseas, a valid passport is required to travel to Japan.  It is important that your passport is valid at least 6 months beyond the last day of the course.

Japanese Visas

A visa may be required for some nationals to enter Japan.  Please refer to the information on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan to see if your nationality is exempted from obtaining visa for a short-term visit: http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/short/novisa.html#list
*OIST will assist in arranging visas, if necessary. However, we will not cover costs incurred in the process of obtaining a visa.

Ground Transportation from/to Naha Airport

OIST will arrange transportation between Naha Airport (Okinawa) and the conference venue (Onna-village) asked on request; however, visitors will be asked to cover the cost.
