The Skill Pills+ provide participants a unique opportunity for students in Japan to learn about research being conducted in the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) directly from active researchers.
The Skill Pills are a series of extracurricular intensive nanocourses designed for the OIST PhD students, taught by OIST members that are focused on learning practical skills or knowledge. For the Skill Pills+, one research unit in OIST will teach about their specialty over a weekend to selected Japanese students and to the OIST community.
Through Skill Pills+, the students will also be able to learn about the OIST campus, research opportunities we have to offer (internships, PhD program...) and build relationships with researchers in Okinawa.
Eligibility and Conditions
Skill Pills+ are aimed at university students currently residing in Japan, studying in a field related to the topic of the Skill Pill+. That includes undergraduate, college of technology or master’s students in science, engineering, or related major.
Airfare, travel insurance, accommodation, and meals during the workshop will be provided by OIST.
The students must be able to take part in the Skill Pills+ in its entirety, from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening. If that period conflicts with the students' schedule, they are required to ask permission from their school.
We reserve the right to cancel the event if not enough students are eligible.
Number of Participants
From submitted applications, about 10 participants will be selected and invited to the workshop.
