The OIST Graduate School only accepts applications for research intern positions through this online form.  Compulsory fields are marked with a red asterisk.

Please give us your name exactly as listed on your passport, to expedite immigration preparations and paperwork.

Applications are accepted months in advance to allow time for visa processing. See the Research Intern information page for application deadlines. Note: The period must be between 2 and 6 months. You cannot start or end on a weekend, a Japanese public holiday, or in the period December 23 to January 3 each year.

Referee Information
IMPORTANT: Please be sure to obtain permission and confirm that you have the correct email address before entering contact information. After you submit the online application, your referee will receive an automatic message from OIST, asking him/her to submit the letter. Your referee needs to follow the directions in that email. Depending on account settings, the automatically generated message may be filtered to his/ her junk mail or bulk mail folder. Please ask your referee to submit the letter by no later than the day after the deadline date. OIST does not accept reference letters submitted directly by applicants. Please keep in mind that the request will not be sent by our system until your entire application is submitted, so be considerate of your referee and be sure to allow sufficient time as you plan the submission of your application. First Name, Last Name, Title, Email Address, Institution fields are required.

Please ensure that all files are in English. Where files such as transcripts are in another language, please include an English translation as well as the original transcript. Please DO NOT use any special characters in files to upload. Some browsers return an error while attempting to transfer such files.
