1. Student Visa

If you are an international student coming to Japan, you will need a 'Student' visa prior to your arrival in Japan.

Please follow the instruction on the visa for international students page and begin your application process immediately as it may take weeks and sometimes months to acquire a visa.

2. Flight

OIST Graduate School will arrange and purchase a flight ticket after your Student Visa is issued.

3. Relocation

If you select a round trip ticket, please skip this procedure.

Goods relocation will be partly supported by OIST. Please read the OIST Relocation Policy by clicking the following icons. Since one way trip ticket is very expensive-- you have to think about saving money for your return ticket, the most of our Special Research Students select a round trip ticket instead of selecting relocation procedure below.

OIST will pass on the below information you provide in the Incoming Student Survey to two moving/freight companies to request the quotes.

  1.   Address (where you are actually moving from)
  2.   Phone number
  3.   E-mail address
  4.   Your desired arrival date in Okinawa

The moving/freight companies will contact you directly regarding your moving arrangements.  We will begin this process according to your start date at OIST.

When you are asked your address in Japan from the moving companies, please provide the address below:

OIST Graduate University, 1919-1 Tancha, Onna, Kunigami, Okinawa 904-0495 Japan

The Student Support Section will provide your apartment number to the selected moving company when your apartment is assigned.
