Guided reef walk

Date

Sunday, September 23, 2018 - 11:00

Location

Maeda flats

Description

This will be our second guided reef walk. The first was a success with a great turn out of friends and families within OIST as well as outside of the OIST community.

Like last time we will be providing material in both Japanese and english that have been tailored to help you identify the creatures you are likely to encounter. We also give a briefing on the dangerous animals you may encounter and how we will respond to them. There will be trained first-aiders on site as well as individuals with training specific to injuries caused by venemous marine creatures. There is no better medicine than prevention so we will also help you familiarise yourself with the dangerous reef creatures.

Unlike last time we are also planning some games and identification games. Keep an eye on the UMI homepage for more details.

Please bring:

  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Drinking water
  • Water-suitable shoes

This is an independently organized event so all participants are responsible for their own safety.
