Science Digest Chalk Talk: "Cool physics with cold atoms"

Date

Tuesday, July 23, 2019 - 12:00 to 13:00

Location

Seminar Room C016 (Lab 3, Level C)

Description

Vandna Gokhroo (Staff Scientist at Nic Chormaic Unit)

Abstract:

Laser cooled atoms are of great interest in areas of fundamental and applied physics. They are extremely useful to carry out precision measurements, simulate condensed matter systems and to understand atomic physics, quantum mechanics, etc. In my talk, I will discuss interesting physics of laser cooling and some of the experiments we do here at OIST.
