Dear All,

We invite you to attend an open seminar, “Protection of Personal Information in Medical Research and Influence by Amendment of the Law (tentative title)” as below.

The Act on the Protection of Personal Information has been amended for the first time in a decade and enacted this May. In the wake of this amendment, all the guidelines containing the handling of personal information, including the guidelines on human subject research, have been amended. Associate Professor Shigeto Yonemura, Tokyo University, who is a physician and jurist, will illustrate the background of the changes and issues that affect human subject research and how the research institutions and researchers should respond to them in an easy to understand manner.

This seminar is highly recommended for researchers who conduct human subject research. In order to explain the background of the Japanese law system to the non-Japanese, an English session is planned, which will be 30 minutes longer than the Japanese session.

As this is an open seminar, please feel free to invite people outside OIST.

1) Date: Tuesday, October 17, 2017

2) Time: English 14:00-15:30 / Japanese 16:00-17:00

3) Location: Center Bldg, B250 Seminar Room

4) Speaker: Associate Professor Shigeto Yonemura, Tokyo University

5) Note: This seminar is open to the public.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
