ONNA2015: Optical Nanofiber Applications: From Quantum to Bio Technologies

Following from the success of ONNA2013, the ONNA2015 workshop will be held at OIST Graduate University (http://www.oist.jp) from 25-28 May 2015.  The aim of the workshop is to bring together experts and early stage researchers from diverse communities who use optical micro and nanofibers for their research needs, whether it be for quantum, biological or other applications. The number of participants is strictly limited and will be based on application.  Full financial support (air ticket, accommodation at Seaside House and meals) available for some participants.  All participants will get support for registration, accommodation, meals and local transport.   All participants will be required to give a poster or oral contribution.    Decision on the list of participants, the nature of the presentation (oral or poster) and the level of funding for each participant will be made in February 2015.

  • Begin Accepting Applications: 01 October 2014
  • APPLICATION CLOSED:  23 January 2015
  • Notification of Application Results: 08 February 2015
  • Participants arrive in Okinawa: 24 May 2015
  • Participants depart Okinawa: 29 May 2015

There is no registration fee.  We will handle the logistics and cover the cost of twin-share accommodation at Seaside House and meals for all workshop participants. We will also help with arranging visas when necessary.  We envision that we will be able to offer full financial support for a number of participants (twin-share accommodation, meals and return airfare).  We request that all applicants indicate on the application form whether they wish to apply for travel support.   

*OIST is deeply committed to the advancement of women in science, in Japan and worldwide. In order to assist principal child carers in participating at this workshop we can provide additional support (such as flights for the child(ren) and child care) where necessary.  Information available on request.
